- Kate MacLeod and Kat Eggleston - New Homeland
"New Homeland" is one of Kate MacLeod's original songs. It is included on Kate and Kat's duet CD "Drawn from the Well" that is distributed by Wind River from Folk Era Records. This performance was recorded at a coffeehouse concert series in Elgin, IL, on October 25, '09. New Homeland is one of those songs that people sometimes mistake for a traditional song. It is one of Kate's earliest songs, written over 25 years ago. So, how old does that make Kate? God only knows. She's a Highlander, a MacLeod, you know, absolutely ageless.

- Kat Eggleston Sound the Pibroch with Kate MacLeod
"Sound the Pibroch" in my opinion, is one of Kat's best songs. It is not a song about Bonnie Prince Charlie; rather it is a lament and tribute for the brave loyal Highlanders who laid down their lives against overwhelming forces in a rearguard action, thus allowing Prince Charles Stewart to escape after the carnage of Culloden. "Pibroch" is not an instrument. It is a form of ancient Scottish music to commemorate an event - almost musical history. Traditionally it was played on the bagpipes. It can be thought of as classical Scottish music with a meaning much deeper than that designed to entertain only, such as dance music which may also be played on the pipes. This song itself can be thought of as "Pibroch." "Tha tighin fodham," pronounced Hatcheen Fo-um means "I have the wish," or in the context of this song, "I know my duty and will acquit it without regard to the consequences" - almost certain death.

- Kate MacLeod - Impromptu Ukulele Version of Where the Magic Happens
I was performing on Vashon Island, WA with Kat Eggleston when I saw this ukulele hanging on a wall in the house where I was being hosted for the weekend. When I find one during my travels, I pick it up for a song, yet had never before played a baritone ukulele like this one. Songs with the uke are SWEET, thought I'd share it with you. Kate M
