FOLK-ROCK singer-songwriter Jake Bugg, from Clifton, is next to perform live and chat to Zoe Kirk on the Stealth sofa for our weekly video showcase. The 16-year-old comes from a musical family. He takes inspiration from seeing his older cousin, Scott Bugg, fronting Nottingham rock band The Swiines. Consequently, Jake, who had always played solo, recently formed his own band, Rubiks. www.zeddyproductions.com THIS Is Live, our online music video show, returns this month with a 17-year-old, who, after being discovered on the show one year ago, has signed to a major label, been play listed on Radio 1 and was invited to perform at Glastonbury in June. It's been an unexpectedly eventful year for Jake Bugg. 12 months ago he was writing songs in his bedroom and introducing himself to the local music scene, following in the footsteps of his older cousin, Scott, who fronts Nottingham band, The Swiines. Jake's stand-out performance on This Is Live attracted the attention of his now manager, who's been a professional session musician and soloist himself, and he could see the singer-songwriter had enormous potential. Jake's working with Iain Archer from Snow Patrol and heads out to Nashville in autumn to record a single. He's supported The Lemonheads' Evan Dando and Karima Francis, and since impressing the Glee Club at his gig in May, he's been given a monthly residency, starting on September 23.
