Here is a song that was in such need of a band!! Really a lot of fun- made me grateful for the new tripod, so I could move around to the beat! Sawyer's first performance with a band!! This was a benefit concert for "Paddling for a Cure," a fundraiser hosted by Dragons Alive, supporting local cancer survivors and their families. Sundial Express is made up of, from left to right, Daryl Kosinski, Linda Sheldon, and Dave Towers. Sawyer is still learning how to communicate with a band, using eye contact and helping them know when he is changing directions or ending the song. He has no written music for them to follow, so their experience and expertise is very evident in the way they improvise and accompany Sawyer's original songs, after only two rehearsals. It is so exciting hearing Sawyer's songs fleshed out instrumentally.

I've been exploring a lot of early blues singers lately, especially Howlin Wolf. And I think Sawyer was absorbing some of the qualities by osmosis, because this is quite a new sound for him. I love his stomping on his guitar case for added percussion. And this is our first video with him playing the Gibson given to him when his grandfather passed away last summer.
